As we look ahead to the new season and the crowning of new champions we have included the 2009 "Festival Of Champions" race report to reflect on the finale event and to once again acknowledge the Champions of 2009. AMCN FESTIVAL OF CHAMPIONS 2009 TROY CORSER AGENCIES "AUSTRALIAN METRAKIT JUNIOR GP CHAMPIONSHIP". November 7 th 2009For all the junior competitors, the big wait was over for the 3rd annual AMCN Troy Corser "Festival of Champions" event. All the Metrakit Competitors had travelled far and wide from all different parts of Australia to gather up for the Festival of Champions event held at the Broadford State Motorcycle Complex. The Festival of Champions is a one round championship, which all the junior competitors from all around Australia fight it out for that number one spot on the podium as first prize is an invitation to participate in the Metrakit World Festival held in Spain with all flights and accommodation paid for by Troy Corser. Second and Third place receive the invitation but have to find there own way to the event. The Metrakit World Festival sees the best Metrakit Juniors from all around the world gather up for the one race in Spain. Metrakit 70cc Class: 1st Zac Zanesco 2nd Luke Mitchell 3rd Troy Guenther The 70cc class saw very close racing throughout the day, with Zac Zanesco (NSW) and Luke Mitchell (NSW) fighting and swapping for first position with never more than two bike lengths separating the riders at the finish line. In the end, Zac Zanesco finished on top with Luke Mitchell settling for 2nd place. Also getting into the battle at the front displaying a lot of potential on the day was Troy Guenther (QLD), who finished 3rd at the event. A big improver on the weekend was Patrick Griffin (NT) who race by race, got faster and faster and by the last race, showed he was worthy of being in the front pack by getting into the battle and swapping positions with Troy Guenther. Overall on the day, he finished 4th but showed he will be one to watch in the new season. Brandon Demmery (NSW) was back on pace finishing 5th overall but also showing he will also be coming on strong for the 2010 season. Tyler Davies (NSW) finished 6th overall respectively, as he hasn’t raced for nearly a year and another big improver for the weekend was Zachary Johnson (VIC) who finished 7th overall but also setting a personal best lap time race after race. The racing in the 70cc class was at a high calibre. Although they are only young, the way they all rode on the day was almost like watching the MotoGP Boys battle it out and they should all be impressed with the way they rode. Well Done! Metrakit 80cc Class: 1st Hayden DeMamiel 2nd Matthew Davies 3rd Josh McGrath The 80cc class saw a lot of battles and a lot of close paint scraping action. The racing showed Hayden DeMamiel (NSW) and Matthew Davies (NSW) battle it out for first position. Matty Davies got the win in the first race but in the second race of the day, Hayden DeMamiel put the pressure on Matty Davies which was just that bit to much to handle, causing him to make a mistake and crash into Turn 5 giving Hayden DeMamiel the win in Race 2. Matty Davies got on his spare bike in Race 3 and was straight back on the pace to take the win over Hayden DeMamiel. Race 4 showed another interesting battle. Not for 1st position but for 3rd in between Brad Shaw (VIC) and Josh McGrath (QLD). The two confident riders were scraping paint and were elbow on elbow through each corner, with nothing separating the two riders. It nearly come to an end when Josh McGrath come into contact with Brad Shaw on the exit of Turn 10 which left both riders going cross country but both managing to hang onto there bikes and rejoin the race. There was a bit of time lost in between the 2 riders which left Josh McGrath finishing in 3rd place in the race with Brad Shaw settling for 4th. Matty Davies got the top spot with Hayden DeMamiel finishing in 2nd place. Jake Mitchell (NSW) finished in 5th place respectively. The last race of the day was the closest racing of the day in the 80cc class with 1st position to 4th position finishing within .935 of a second of each other. There was dicing for 1st position into every single corner. The positions changed lap by lap but coming over the finishing line, Hayden DeMamiel got the win with Matty Davies in 2nd position, Josh McGrath in 3rd position and Brad Shaw in 4th. Jake Mitchell raced his own race finishing in 5th gaining a lot of experience and knowledge throughout the weekend. The overall positions for the days racing finished the same as the race. Josh McGrath finished on equal points with Brad Shaw but because Josh McGrath finished in front of Brad Shaw in the last race, due to the count back, Josh McGrath finished in 3rd overall. Because of this, Metrakit Australia also invited Brad Shaw to take part of the Metrakit World Festival in Spain. From L – R: Luke From L – R: Matty Mitchell, Zac Zanesco, Davies, Hayden Troy Guenther DeMamiel, Josh McGrath We wish all of our Australian Metrakit World Festival Participants all the best of luck, and to all the competitors, we wish you all the best for the new season and we look forward to seeing you soon… From Nicky Diles, Metrakit Australia 2010 METRAKIT SERIES RIDER REGISTRATION FORM Please find attached the 2010 Metrakit Series Registration Form. TYRES Metrakit Australia have been in discussion over the tyre subject with both Metrakit Spain and the UK. They have acknowledged that after testing of various brands of tyre, the new Dunlop TT92’s are the favoured mark in compound and performance for the Metrakit 70. Dunlop is also preferred not only for the 80 and PreGP 125cc Metrakits, but also the same tyre is what is run at 125cc MotoGP. Most Metrakit countries run the controlled Dunlop for their series as do they at the Metrakit World Festival. We have been in talks with Dunlop Australia in regards to a controlled tyre series and our decision has been made to delay the Dunlop controlled tyre for our series to 2011. This has come due to stock of various brands that you the competitor have accumulated since the series began the open tyre manufacture. These other brands including Dunlop again may be used for 2010, however Metrakit Australia have discussed with Dunlop a deal to run controlled tyres for 2011 and beyond, which will be better all round for the competitor. This decision will give competitors equal performance for all, and for those who will represent Australia at the World Festival, knowing the characteristics of this tyre .2010 METRAKIT MACHINERY AND SERIES GUIDELINES Please find attached the 2010 Metrakit Machinery and Series Guidelines.
